Date of Exam 10/29/24 (Tuesday)
Students in grades 9, 11 and 12 will be asynchronous that day and remain home. All lessons will be posted in Canvas for those students on that day.
Students taking the PSAT/NMSQT will report to school on 10/29/24 by 7:45 AM.
Digital Readiness will be the week of October 15th-18th and take place in Science Classes

Over 100 Washington High School seniors gathered bright and early this morning for their Senior Sunrise. 🌄 Organized by class officers, the event was filled with music, games, t-shirt decorating, and breakfast treats—all powered by a much-needed caffeine boost from our friends at Cardinal Coffee (perfect for an early morning!). Here’s to a year of unforgettable memories ahead!











Any juniors interested in running for a class officer position need to see Mrs. Darr in room B117. Applications are due October 18th, and voting will take place on October 24th.

Any student who has started the process of applying for National Honor Society membership must turn in their completed Student Information Form AND 2 letters of recommendation to Mrs. Darr in Room B117 by NO LATER THAN 2:45 PM on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10TH. Anyone who passed the GPA check and has not yet picked up their application packet needs to see Mrs. Darr in B117 to sign for and pick up their application as soon as possible. If applications are not picked up in time to be completed for the deadline, students will not be able to partake in the consideration process.

The National Honor Society will be having a meeting this Friday, October 4th during 3rd period in Mrs. Darr’s room, B117, for all current members. We’ll be discussing committees and upcoming service projects as well as brainstorming ideas for other projects this year. Attendance is mandatory. For any questions, please see Mrs. Darr in room B117.

Attention Seniors! Due to anticipated rain, Senior Sunrise has been reschedule to NEXT Friday, October 4th. All other details will remain the same. Again, Senior Sunrise is now Friday, October 4th.

Reminder: This Thursday, September 26, we will be hosting parent/teacher conferences from 6-8PM. Meetings will be first come, first served.

The National Honor Society will hold a meeting for prospective members this Friday, September 27th, during 3rd period in the cafeteria. This meeting will cover information about completing the application process. All students who passed the GPA check and received their clearance letter should be in attendance at this meeting. Additionally, any students who cleared the GPA check will need to see Mrs. Darr in Room B117 to personally pick up their application packet. These MUST be signed for by the applicant, so if you wish to continue in the application process, YOU come get your own application.

Homecoming tickets will sold through Friday for students and their guests. Tickets are $25
Permission slips for students are required to buy a ticket. A separate guest permission slip must be completed by the student, the guest, the guests home school principal and then final approval by Mr. Showen.
Prior to the football game, we will have tailgating in the teacher parking lot behind the library with games. Festivities start at 6 pm.
Come to the football game on Friday evening starting at 7 pm. During halftime, we will present the homecoming court and crown the king and queen of homecoming!

The 10th grade field trip to James Rumsey Technical Institute is scheduled for Tuesday, October 22nd from 9:30am-11:35am. Please have your student use the attached QR code to pick their top 3 programs to tour during their visit.

ACADEMY DAY!

2-4 pm at Jefferson High School
We will also have representatives from local ROTC programs on hand to discuss ROTC scholarship opportunities. Mock interviews will be offered and a representative from the Dept. of Defense’s Medical Examination Review Board will join us on Saturday, September 28, 2024 and Sunday, September 29, 2024.
Academy Day is an opportunity for students, parents, guardians, and school officials to ask questions and obtain information regarding the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy as well as the ROTC scholarship process.

Mr. Wayne Bennett from James Rumsey will be coming next week on Tuesday, 9/17 during 2nd period to speak with all of our 10th grade students about JRTI High School Programs.
Sophomore students will be dismissed from their classes at the start of 2nd period to attend this presentation in the auditorium.

The 2024 Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, September 21 from 7-10 pm. Tickets are $25 per person. Permission slips will be available starting TOMORROW, 9/11 on the table outside of G Hall. Guest permission slips will also be available and must be returned AND approved by Wednesday, September 18. Ticket sales will be during all 3 lunches starting Monday, on the 16th, 17th, and 18th. Rumsey students should purchase their tickets before leaving the school at 7:30 am at the round table.

On September 17th, the Jefferson County Voter and Elections Office will be on hand at Washington High School to assist students in registering to vote prior to the election in November! A table will be set up in the cafeteria during all 3 lunch shifts. In order to be eligible to register to vote, the student:
1. Must be 18 years old OR be 17 years old and will be 18 years old by November 5, 2024
2. Must not be on probation or parole
3. Must be a citizen of the US
4. Must reside in WV
5. Must know either the last four of their social or their driver’s license/ID number. If they have their ID on them, they can help them with getting the right number.
If a student is not present in the building during the lunch period, they are welcome to come into the building to register to vote. These students MUST enter the school using ONLY the Event Entrance near the Cafeteria. Ms. Stuntz will be at the door allowing them to enter the building to complete their voter registration. They must exit the building using the Event Entrance immediately after completing their registration.
