Alyssa Rosario, an 8th Grade student at Shepherdstown Middle School, recently competed in the U13 Girls 61 kg (134.5lbs) division at the VIRUS Weightlifting Series II National Competition, representing West Virginia on the national stage. After winning her debut competition, the Tough Temple Open, in July, Alyssa continued her success at her first national event by taking first place in her division and earning Best Overall U13 Girls Lifter honors.
Competing in Texas, Alyssa delivered a flawless six-for-six performance, making all three snatch attempts and all three clean and jerk attempts. She also set a new WV/PA clean and jerk record at 50 kg (110.2lbs) before breaking her own mark with a 53 kg (116.8lbs) lift.
In addition to weightlifting, Alyssa has competed in wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and strength training since age five. Her wrestling accomplishments include two 2026 West Virginia Girls Wrestling Junior State titles, a gold medal at the 2026 Ohio Tournament of Champions, and two PA Chocolate Town Girls Open championships, showcasing her success across multiple sports.
