Two Jefferson High School students will advance to the West Virginia State Social Studies Fair after securing a first-place win at the regional event. Allie Hickman and Anne-Lise Bauer placed first in the World History category for their project entitled "The Fatal Rivalry: The Virgin Queen vs. The Queen of Scots." They will travel to Charleston to represent JCS at the state event on April 14.
The following JCS students also received recognition at the Region VIII Social Studies Fair on March 18:
- 2nd Place, World History: "The Life and Reign of Queen Elizabeth" by Molly Lassen (JHS)
- 2nd Place, State & Local Studies: "The Battle of Blair Mountain" by Louisa Pate (JHS)
- 3rd Place, World History: "Hatshepsut: The Forgotten Pharaoh by Aurora Jackson (HFMS)
- Honorable Mention, U.S. History: "To Drop or Not to Drop" by Aiden Bauer (HFMS)
