Welcome to Shep-bird Town Winter Village. Each Mentorship class decorated a wooden birdhouse with style and whimsy. There was a catch too -- a Cardinal needed to be on the birdhouse somewhere! The results, as you see, were amazing, inventive and lovely!

Mrs. French's ELA students completed their poetry unit by performing "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and some skits of their own. They created costumes with found items, created sets, had set designers and performed. A magical demonstration of poetic language in action!

During Mentorship class this week, each Mentor group created a snowman and predicted the first Snow Day of the school year. Joy, creativity and teamwork are evident in the finished products - which are on display in the cafeteria! Looking forward to our wintry weather ☃️☃️

6th graders in Ms Landsberger's class enhanced their study of WWII with a visit from student Harlan Morreale's father David, who is the grandson of a WWII veteran. Harlan's great-grandfather received a Purple Heart for valor. Mr Morreale shared family artifacts from that time and offered insight into the war. Students were enraptured with this up close encounter with history.

Nov 30, 2023: A fire alarm at Shepherdstown Middle School prompted a brief evacuation this morning. Firefighters at the scene investigated and determined there is NO DANGER to students or staff. Everyone is back inside, and instruction has resumed. We appreciate their quick response and thorough investigation. For more about our standard response protocol (SRP), visit www.jcswv.org/safety.

Happy Thanksgiving to our JCS community! We remain grateful for the privilege of serving your children.

Just before the break, students from Harpers Ferry, Shepherdstown, and Wildwood Middle Schools visited Jefferson High School, where they learned about CTE courses, CTSO clubs, and programs of study available as they enter high school. Special thanks to our high school student ambassadors for representing these programs for our rising freshmen!
