We have a wonderful role model walking our halls and his name is Ares Cunningham. We had a substitute teacher in PE and Ares assisted the substitute, was kind and helpful and also helped clean up after class. What a fantastic example for everyone at SJES—-thank you, Ares!!! This Positive Principal Referral is well-deserved! 💜💛 Ms. Mahoney

These three young superstars were nominated by their teacher, Mrs. Fox, for Positive Principal Referrals. Congratulations to Eliseo Perez-Castro, Asher Lutman and Mason Dunn for their hard work with reading and math in kindergarten! All three have challenged themselves and are preparing for first grade! We are super proud of you and are excited to see you move forward at South Jefferson!
Ms. Mahoney

Happy National School Counseling Week to Mrs. Cavanaugh! We are so grateful for the time she devotes to our students and community. She has the kindest heart and we are blessed to have her at SJES! 💜💛

Mrs. Sunday’s 4th graders honed their estimation skills this week by comparing different weights. They estimated or guessed the weight of an object and then weighed the object with scales or balances to determine their accuracy. They are also comparing the differences between standard weight and metric weight. A good introduction to exploring grams, kilograms, ounces and pounds.

Ms. Horne’s kindergarten class received the royal treatment today as they celebrated the end of their study of kings and queens. They designed their castles, were given their royal titles and celebrated with tea and cookies at the end of the day.

A huge shout out to our Fourth Grade Math Field Day team for all of their incredible work and practice to prepare for the Jefferson County Math Field Day competition. While they may not have gotten the outcome that they hoped for, I am incredibly proud of them and know that this is just a stepping stone to brighter days ahead! I couldn’t have asked for a better team to represent SJES! The team of Caleb Benner, Roland Walsh, Braylon Shultz and Lilith Franklin is shown with their fabulous coach, Mrs. Nedorostek.
💜💛

If you see these mathematical rock stars, make sure you congratulate them on their 1st place team finish at the Jefferson County Math Field Day competition! This fabulous foursome, Carmen Kline, Jace Moreno, Henry Solich and Grant Koch are shown with their awesome coach, Mr. Collins. Grant placed first place individually, Henry placed second place individually, Jace is first alternate and Carmen is second alternate for the Regional competition. We are super proud of our fifth graders!
🏆

Fourth grader, Taryn Lafferty, was nominated for a Positive Office Referral by Mrs. Sunday for being kind, respectful and helpful to classmates. She also praised him for his growth mindset and for working hard to figure out things he may not initially understand. Super proud of you, Taryn!
